Right Decisions, Right Now: Be Tobacco Free is a school-based youth tobacco prevention program with a focus on decision making skills created by Lifetime Learning Systems, Inc. and funded by Reynolds American, Inc.  Each summer, the Crosby Scholars Program sponsors a four day summer camp to encourage students in grades six through nine to remain tobacco free for life.  The summer camp features four days of workshops.  Students participate in an interactive experience that helps them to make good decisions. On the last day of camp, we will have a representative from the W-S Police Department and the Forsyth County Health Department address health and legal issues relating to tobacco use. This year, a morning session from 8:30 to 12:30 and an afternoon session from 12:30 to 4:00 will be offered. Scholars select to attend either the morning session or the afternoon session. Lunch will be provided at both sessions.

Camp dates for the Summer of 2017 will be announced soon:

     rising 9th and 10th graders

      rising 8th graders

      rising 7th graders

The camps will be held at the Goodwill Industries Building located at 2701 University Parkway in Winston-Salem. As an addition to the camp, students may complete their 2 hours of community service required each Monday and Tuesday of camp. Students may stay for one additional hour to earn community service credit.  The community service will be done here at Goodwill Industries. Scholars interested in participating in the community service opportunity may indicate this on the permission form. (The permission form will be attached to the confirmation e-mail.)

Students who complete all 4 days of the summer camp and complete the Program through their senior year will be eligible to apply for a Right Decisions, Right Now scholarship.  Information about the scholarship will be available in the spring of the student’s senior year of high school.

We have space for 35 participants per session.  Registration is on a first come first served basis. Scholars register through their Crosby student portal.
