Program Highlights

General Program

  • In 2018 graduated 1,073 senior Crosby Scholars; the program has graduated 9,004 seniors since 1993
  • In 2018, 13 senior Crosby Scholars were valedictorians of their class after the first semester, additionally, 51 students had a 5.0 QPA or better after the first semester of their senior year
  • 37% Scholars enrolled in the program in 6thgrade and completed the requirements each year through the senior year without interruption

College Admissions and Financial Aid

  • Students in the 2018 class are enrolled in more than 129 colleges and universities Seniors and their parents attended Financial Aid Workshops with hands on assistance in completing financial aid forms
  • Early financial aid planning- and college admissions workshops were attended by parents of middle school students during the Crosby Scholar Academy sessions
  • More than $7.4 million in last dollar grants awarded since 1993
  • $64.2 million in other financial aid leveraged since 1992
  • More than $773,000 in Last Dollar Scholarships awarded to Scholars for the 2017-18 year
  • 98% of our seniors enrolled in a four or two-year college
  • Assisted over 33,397 students to prepare for higher education over the last 25 years

Advising/Mentoring

  • Special volunteer advisor recruitment and training for over 250 volunteers
  • Summer advisor sessions were held with more than 1,000 rising seniors in 2017
  • Senior Crosby Scholars receive materials to assist them with the college admissions and financial aid process during the senior meeting

Crosby Scholars Academy

  • Academy Sessions have included Test Taking Skills, Note Taking Skills, Speech and Communication, College Survival Skills, SAT Prep, Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Munchies Matter, Financing a College Education, Selective College Admissions, Career Exploration, and Freshman Year 101
  • College admissions and financial aid workshops offered to parents
  • SAT/ACT and College Admissions sessions offered to all junior Crosby Scholars
  • Preparing for High School session mandated for all rising 9th graders, including a high school panel and a review of high school graduation requirements

Community Service

Students in grades 6-12 provided more than 117,000 hours of volunteer service to the community during the 2016 - 2017 school year.

  • College Visitation Tours for rising eighth graders, sophomores, and junior Crosby Scholars
  • College Fair required for high school students Excelencia Program for hispanic females in selected schools
