DESCRIPTION:Interested in Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, and Math (STEM)?\nJoin us for a workshop!\nIn conjunction with The SciTech Institute (a community enrichment program in science\, math\, and technology) – Crosby Scholars is offering a STEM workshop for middle school Crosby Scholars. \nSixth grade students will be exploring sound and circuits using Vernier data sensors to compare the pitch and volume of sounds to the frequency and wavelength of sound waves. You will then use your Snap Circuit kits (provided) to assemble working lights and sound sensors. \nDate:  Thursday\, April 8th (no school for WSFCS students) \nTime: 10:00am – 12:30pm Check in begins at 9:45am. Students cannot arrive prior to 9:45am. \nLocation: Self Reliance Hall – Goodwill Industries Building (2701 University Parkway\, Winston-Salem\, 27105) \nEach student will be provided a kit with the necessary tools. More details will be sent the week prior to the event. Workshops will be held virtually and in-person. \nRegistration is required for this event through the Student Portal\, and spaces are limited.

You will listen to a “witness” and use their descriptions to try to sketch what they think the suspect looks like\, use their digital microscopes to identify fingerprints and explore items they collect from around the building\, and explore types of fossils and research where their organism appeared on the geologic timeline. \n*Students will need to have a device (computer\, tablet\, smart phone) which will connect to the building’s wi-fi. \nDate:  Friday\, April 9th (no school for WSFCS students) \nTime: 10:00am – 12:30pm. Check in begins at 9:45am. Given the significant role they play in the college journey\, parents are strongly encouraged to watch the webinar along with their student; however\, parents cannot watch the webinar on a student’s behalf.
