SUMMARY:Crosby Scholars Student Night at the Piedmont Opera - "Mary\, Queen of Scots"
DESCRIPTION:Piedmont Opera and Hanesbrands\, Inc. are pleased to offer Crosby Scholars a FREE ticket to the performance of Mary\, Queen of Scots on October 16th at 7:30PM. \nAccompanying siblings are $11.60\, Chaperones are $20 \nTickets must be reserved by 4:00 PM on October 14th \nCall the Piedmont Opera at 336-725-7101 to reserve your tickets today! \nA drawing will be held after each performance for a $250.00 scholarship awarded to a junior or senior Crosby Scholar student who attends the performance. Crosby Scholars staff members will be in attendance and scholars may enter the drawing just prior to the performance by visiting with a staff member in the lobby. This scholarship must be applied toward the winner’s college education\, and the recipient must graduate from the Crosby Scholars program. \nAbout the Opera: \nFreedom. After 18 years of being held prisoner by Queen Elizabeth\, her cousin\, Mary\, Queen of Scots breathes fresh air. Believing herself to be the true heir to the throne\, Mary has been imprisoned first for plotting against her cousin\, and ultimately for attempting to murder her. This day of freedom turns to condemnation as these empowered women have a momentous meeting. \nWhile Crosby Scholars staff will be in attendance\, due to the nature of the event\, we regret that we are unable to be responsible for supervising students before\, during\, or after the opera. Parents/guardians should make appropriate arrangements for supervision and transportation of their students for this event. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Amanda Mathis at amathis@crosbyscholars.org.

SUMMARY:CSA #2B Take the ASVAB on October 29
DESCRIPTION:We at Crosby Scholars believe strongly in the ASVAB’s value for clarifying strengths and interests that might direct you toward a major area in college or toward a specific career field.  Although branches of the military use ASVAB results to determine training assignments\, it is NOT a recruitment tool\, and the information gathered from the assessment has value for students fully committed to post-secondary education.  In fact\, over 50% of students who completed the assessment during the 2013-14 school year expected to enroll in a four-year or two-year college after high school. \nPlease consider this opportunity to fulfill half of your Crosby Senior Academy (CSA) requirement while gaining a better understanding of your intellectual aptitude as you are setting goals for further education. You will be taking the full ASVAB exam on this date! \nTime: 9:00am-12:00pm \nLocation: Goodwill Industries Building\, 2701 University Parkway
