There are many ways to volunteer with the Crosby Scholars Program. How would you like to join our success? Individuals volunteer with the Program during the school year from August to May, and recruiting takes place each summer from June through August.   Training and material are provided.  Here's how to begin:

  • Read our website which provides you with who we are and what we do.
  • Decide in what capacity you wish to volunteer.
    • Senior Advisor ~ meet one-on-one with a high school senior at least monthly beginning in September and ending in May to guide him/her through the college admissions process then into the student financial aid process and finally through making the big college enrollment decision ~ following each meeting, the senior advisor submits pre-printed conference notes to program staff
    • Grade Advisor ~ meet with a group of scholars monthly from January through May who are enrolled in the same grade at the same high school to lead grade appropriate discussions focused on preparing for the college admissions process ~ the volunteer chooses the date of each meeting ~ meetings begin at 3:45
    • Workshop Host ~ share your special knowledge with our scholars from grades 6 through 12 ~ contact program staff to discuss your ideas
    • Other ~ assist program staff with general office tasks;  read college admissions essays; serve on a scholarship selection committee; coordinate special events; join an advisory board

  • All volunteer advisors attend an introductory training session to receive the advisor notebook and material needed.  You will be contacted with the dates and times of the training sessions and then you can decide which session fits best into your schedule!
  • Receive your volunteer assignment.  Volunteer advisor assignments are confirmed when the volunteer completes the required training.
