The board of directors of the Crosby
Scholars Program announced that it will launch a development program to
perpetuate the ability of last-dollar college scholarships for Forsyth
County’s public high-school students. The board set a goal of doubling
the Program’s current endowment.
“Over the past eight years. The Crosby national Celebrity Golf Tournment
has helped the Crosby Scholars program build an endowment at the Winston Salem
Foundation to generate operating funds.” Said David Coterill past
chairman of Crosby Scholars board of Directors. “The scholars program is
the true legacy of this great event, and we are very grateful to Kathryn Crosby
who not only brought this opportunity to our community but allowed us to use
the Crosby name.

Our public high-school know that if they agree to stay
drug free and complete program requirements that the Crosby Scholars will help
them get a college education.”
Cotterill said the board also wanted to thank the local business community,
which ahs made the Program possible. “We are very grateful to the Sara
Leee Corporation for sponsoring and managing the tournment as well as US
Airways, Wachovia, RJR, Krispy Kreme and the numerous other local businesses
who as sponsors made it a success. Without their generosity, there would have
been no Crosby Scholars Program. Their interest in seeing it continue is very
rewarding and we look forward to working with them to make that happen.”
We have a unique program that offers free services to our middle

and high school students that no other city or county can boast.” Said
Mona Lovett, executive director of Crosby Scholars. “Not only do we help
parents identity funding sources, we also provide last-dollar grants up to
$1,200 for graduates with demonstrated need. Our goal is to ensure that lack of
funds will not prevent any Crosby Scholar from furthering his or her education.
