SATURDAY ACADEMY
Saturday Academy provides an opportunity for students to attend one of six academic and personal enrichment workshops: Improving Note Taking, Improving Test Taking Skills, Building Self-Esteem, Speech Comm unication, Anger Management, and Goal Setting. The Academy also includes an appropriate grade level video discussion.

Saturday Academies are usually scheduled on four Saturdays in January or February. (Scheduling is sometimes affected by weather or school events.) The Middle School Crosby Scholars are required to attend one Saturday Academy for the year.

CAREER DAY
Career Day is a unique experience where students are introduced to a wide range of careers. Eligible Crosby Scholars learn about potential jobs and the academic preparation required for those jobs. Career Day is expected to help the student with the following tasks:
  • Begin to identify possible career interests.
  • Gain an awareness of the academic, technical, and personal skills required by particular jobs.
  • Understand the connection between school, work, and achieving goals.
  • Help develop realistic educational plans to achieve career goals.
*Eligibility: Middle School Scholars who successfully complete sixth and seventh grade as Crosby Scholars and are in good standing with the Program as eighth graders.

SUMMER COLLEGE CAMPUS TOUR
The College Bus Trip is an exciting early awareness activity that is available to all rising eighth grade Crosby Scholars. Students learn about different types of educational institutions, and they will be able to tour two or three area college campuses and ask questions of college students and faculty. By taking advantage of this opportunity, students learn the benefit of successfully preparing for post secondary education.
