Preparation
for College, Preparation for Life:
The Crosby Scholars Community Partnership is the college access resource for
families in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, North Carolina.
The
Crosby Scholars Community Partnership
in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, helps students in public middle and high
schools prepare themselves academically, personally, and financially for
college admission. In addition to maintaining the required academic standards,
Crosby Scholars make a commitment to
remain drug-free,
and participate in
volunteer
community service, leadership development training, job shadowing
experiences, and financial aid workshops
for students and families.
For those students who meet financial and academic criteria, the program also
provides bridge scholarships to address the gap between the cost of college
attendance and other forms of financial assistance.
A partnership of the
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County
Schools, the Winston- Salem Foundation, and the Kate B. Reynolds
Charitable Trust,
the program has a 10-year history of serving more than 2,000 students per year.
Some 200 seniors each year are guided through the college admissions process
and into higher education institutions best suited to their needs and
aptitudes.
The Crosby Scholars Program is the
primary resource in Forsyth County for assistance during the college
admission and financial aid process.
