Crosby Scholars Invitational and Breakfast of Champions 2010

The 6th annual Crosby Scholars Invitational is held in May 18 at Bermuda Run Country Club. According to Paul Fulton, the general tournament chairman, the Invitational is a "mini-reincarnation of The Crosby--an opportunity to relive some of the magic of that event and support a youth organization which is vital to this community."  Fulton is one of the original founders of the Crosby Scholars Program.

The Crosby Scholars Invitational is a Captain's Choice event in which each team play in the name of a Scholar.  First, second and third prizes receive special scholarships for those students, and monies raised by the tournament go toward programs and scholarships.  Sponsors and celebrities also honor students, benefactors, and volunteers at the Breakfast of Champions before the Captain's Choice tournament.

“The Crosby Scholars Program does a tremendous amount of good for more than 5,500 forsyth county students." said Fulton.  "This event is integral to an innovative long term funding strategy developed by the Board of Directors of the Crosby Scholars Program. We are having great success enlisting sponsors and celebrities to participate in this one-day mini version of the original Crosby Golf Tournament.”

The event kicks off each year with the Breakfast of Champions where sponsors, community leaders, celebrities, volunteers, and students gather at Bermuda Run.  Noted speakers have included Senator Richard Burr, Mayor Allen Joines, Erskine Bowles, Roy Williams, Jim Grobe, and Jerry Moore.  The 2010 Tournament featured remarks by High Point UniversityPresident, Nido Qubein and Athletic Director, Dick Baddour from the University of NC - Chapel Hill.  “The Crosby Scholars Program is the remarkable legacy of The Crosby Golf Tournament, and it needs our financial support to remain viable. This golf tournament is a great way to let businesses and individuals learn more about the impact of the program on their employees' children and to contribute to its continued success,” said Fulton.
